National Assessment Service (NAS) 2 day course for RTV’s to learn how to assess a learner’s vision

A key role of Resource Teachers Vision (RTV), is to assess the vision of learners. To support RTV to be confident and competent in this aspect of their role, NAS runs a two-day course that looks at the various assessment tools used to assess a learner’s vision, the process of preparing and planning for undertaking an assessment, observing assessments in action, and learning how to analyse the results to inform recommendations and strategies when reporting.

To ensure that RTV feel confident putting into practice what has been learned, they are supported after the course to undertake two functional vision assessments of learners on their roll, in conjunction with a NAS Senior RTV. There have been 66 RTV complete this course.
