This week is Cook Island Language Week and to celebrate we have a number of greetings and responses to share:
Kia orāna – Hi, hello.
‘Aere rā – Goodbye (to someone who is going).
‘È no‘o rā – Goodbye (to someone who is staying).
Meitaki – Thank you.
Pē‘ea koe? – How are you? (to one person only).
Meitaki, ma‘ata – Very well, thank you.
