Cathy West shares about the free NZQA accredited course she has enrolled in this year.
Kia ora. I’m Cathy West from BLENNZ Wellington. This year as part of my professional development I am doing a course with the Open Wānanga called He Papa Tikanga and I’d just like to tell you a little bit about it because I am really enjoying it. There are four modules and you do have 12 months to do it, but I’ve been fast-tracking (lucky me!) and I’ve done three modules in less than six months.
Fantastic resources – just wanted to quickly show you some of the things that you get. You get a resource booklet, and a study journal, and lots of other material (DVDs, CDs and books) to support your learning.
It’s a really good course and would be even quite fantastic for some of our senior students, I’m not sure whether they are able to enrol or not. That’s something we’re going to investigate and we are also looking at having some of the materials put into braille. Very supportive, you have a kaitiaki who comes and helps you, working either at home or you could meet them at a coffee bar or you can meet them at a library, and then they go through the materials that you’ve been working on and help you with your assessments.
