The BLENNZ DOM service currently has three Provisional O&Ms (trainees) undertaking the Diploma in Specialist Teaching at Massey University studying alongside Resource Teachers: Vision. They have now completed the first of their 4 papers successfully and have commenced the core DOM Professional Knowledge paper. The three provisional staff are really enjoying the on the job training that BLENNZ is providing while they complete their academic requirements to practise.
BLENNZ DOM Service in collaboration with Massey University’s Dr Julia Budd is providing options for training Specialist DOMs in NZ for the first time in years. The collaboration has seen the completion of 3 ‘short courses for RTVs to gain the credentials to support DOM programmes across a range of educational settings. The feedback from RTVs who have undertaken a course has been extremely encouraging. This model of professional development is already having positive outcomes across New Zealand for learners on the BLENNZ roll.
