Students from Christchurch have been involved in various ‘Social Skills’ based activities this year.
A group of students who have low vision from BLENNZ participated in the event “Mural Madness in New Brighton”.
The students designed and painted bollards to help beautify the earthquake damaged seaside suburb of New Brighton.
Their theme was potato heads and the end results saw potato heads of all sorts popping up on the bollards.
Students involved: Hope, Nat, Olivia, James, Merrinka and Hayden.
Another group of BLENNZ students attended a workshop called “Driving without Wheels”, this was a joint initiative between BLENNZ and the Blind Foundation.
After lively discussions on why not being able to drive isn’t all bad, the students went via public transport to a restaurant for dinner. Students selected, ordered and paid for their own meals. New friends were made over dinner.
