Since the opening of ‘Freemason Park’ at the Homai Early Childhood Centre, children, whānau and staff are playing, discovering and learning in the new environment.
The children are taking time to explore the natural world and our built playground. Especially motivating are the various opportunities for vestibular, tactile and motor sensory experiences.
Uirangi has planted kumera and potatoes, which we hope to harvest and eat. Xavier has learnt to hold on to hold on tight and to actively move himself on the swing, getting more confident each day.
We realize there is huge potential for play and active learning, independently and in groups.
