NAS has been adapting service delivery in response to the different needs of ākonga, whānau and teams across the country. This has included joint assessments for some of our younger ākonga, including those with high and complex learning needs.
During the NAS team visit to New Plymouth, the therapy team worked jointly with our functional sensory assessor, rather than assessing in individual sessions. Local Resource Teachers Vision (RTVs) and teams surrounding ākonga were involved in the assessments and the collaboration prior to and during the assessment. This proved to enhance positive outcomes for ākonga, whānau and their teams. This way of working is also being used for many on campus assessments in response to the feedback received.
