In-Service workshops for Teachers, Teacher Aides and Early Support Workers around supporting ākonga who are Blind or have Low Vision

BLENNZ Whangarei was excited to offer our first In-Service Workshops for teachers, teacher aides and early support workers around supporting ākonga who are Blind or have Low Vision. Each workshop ran for one day with lots of interaction and hands on participation.  

The purpose of the workshops was to provide an opportunity for educators to gain a greater insight into the challenges faced by learners who have a vision impairment.  

Topics covered during the day included BLENNZ services, Common causes of vision impairment, Classroom implications and strategies, Assistive Technology options, Orientation and Mobility and Resources.  

We are excited to have the facility to offer these workshops to educators in the Te Tai Tokerau region annually during term one.
