The examples used here are based on listening to and using Te Reo Māori with people predominantly from Ngāti Kahungunu ki te Wairoa and Tūhoe.
Te wiki tuatoru (week 3 /4 August) –poitarawhiti/netball
In my area we use the kupu ‘netiporo’ for netball.
He pai mō tō tinana he poitarawhiti – Netball is good for the body.
Tokohia ngā tangata kei roto I te tīma poitarawhiti – How many people in a netball team?
Tokowhitu ngā tangata kei roto I te tīma poitarawhiti – Seven players are in a netball team.
